04.26.99 - #04 ENTRY: #04 DATE: 04.26.99 TITLE: Threats, Festival, Birthday Flashback Lucy, Geesh... I've got a lot to update you on! On Friday [23rd], many things happened. First, I'm in Dance 2 at school [3rd period] and at 4th period, we gave the Fine Arts Academy a pre-performance. Naturally, we were great! However, we were a little shocked for two reasons. (1) The first bomb threat was on Wednesday, 4th period, at 1pm. The second bomb threat was Thursday, 3rd period, at 12pm. See a pattern? We were expecting another one at 11am or 2nd period. Thankfully, nothing happened. (2) When we were changing into our dance clothes at 3rd period, someone had written in lipstick, "3x's a charm" and "Are you ready to die?" on the bathroom mirrors. We also found out that there had been a third bomb threat at a volleyball game Thursday night. Friday night was our real performance. We got our stage make up on, fixed our hair and warmed up. Me and my class were suppose to go 3rd out of about 15 dances. The first dance [Scream] started and I walked backstage to wait for my turn. People were being so loud! I wondered why - you're not suppose to talk backstage! Scream ended and I had to follow the other dancers into the dance room and then outside. Why? Well, there was ANOTHER bomb threat! 4th one in 3 days! We were sent home after about 1/2 an hour of waiting. We were suppose to come back Saturday night to make up the performance, but I didn't go. Saturday [24th] morning, I got up at 6am to be to school at 7am. My band and I were going to festival. I play the tuba. That doesn't mean I look like a tuba player though. I'm not fat... I'm tall [5'8], bone thin [although I'm a bottomless pit of an eater!], and I have blue eyes and long blonde hair. From 5th-9th grade, I played the clarinet [I played the bass clarinet in 6th grade]. At the beginning of this year, 10th grade, I switched from one of the lightest instruments to the heaviest. So, how am I adjusting to it? Well, there's something at my school called Chamber Orchestra... made up of the whole orchestra, and a few band members. The only band members who make it into Chamber are people who have been playing for years... aka the school's best musicians. There is only one tuba player in Chamber [out of a total of 7 tuba players] whose name is Matt... a tuba player for 6 years. Well, Chamber is taking a big trip from New Mexico to Canada for a national competition and Matt couldn't afford to go. So he needed to be replaced. Guess who tried out [against people who had been playing the tuba for 2-5 years] and made it into Chamber?!?... ME! [And I had only been playing for 7 months!] In fact, we're leaving for Canada this Thursday. Can't wait! Anyways, back to Saturday. We performed and out of a scale of 1-the best to 5-the worst, we got a 1. The judges don't just give out 1's either... you have to be really good! *FLASHBACK* On March 12th, 1999, I had a birthday parTAY for Taylor Hanson at my house. We had a Hanson cake, played Hanson music & watched Hanson videos ALL NIGHT. We also made a huge poster-size card for him. We all signed it and as my roles of film slowly get developed, I am putting the pictures in the card. When I'm done, I was planning on sending it to Taylor. [It's a month after his birthday and I STILL haven't sent it yet!] Well, when Sandy dropped Tasha off at MY 16th birthday parTAY [about 2-3 weeks ago], Sandy saw the card. "I can personally get this card to Hanson," she said. "I can give it to Doug [I think that's his name!] and he'll get it to the Hansons." On Saturday, after festival, Sandy came up to me and said, "I told Doug about your parTAY and the card." She continued on, telling me that Doug either wanted a picture of me to give to the Hansons, or Doug had told the Hansons what Sandy had told him and they asked him to ask Sandy to ask me for a picture [I'm not sure which one she said]. Either way: ahhhhhhhhhhhhh! [I'd NEVER scream in front of the Hansons, so I'll just let it out here] Saturday, when I got back, I was bored so I made a "na na" tape. [Hehe!] The Hansons sing "Na, na, na," etc. in "I Will Come To You", "Sometimes", and "Merry Christmas Baby", the Backstreet Boys sing "Na, na, na," etc. in "Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)", and the Spice Girls sing "No, no, no," etc. in "Goodbye". I put all of those together on one tape. [Kinda pathetic, huh?] Then, I made a remix of "MMMBop". I used the "Live From Albertane" [LFA] version of "MMMBop" for the opening chords, the "Middle Of Nowhere" [MON] version of "MMMBop" for the first part of the first verse, and then I used the "3 Car Garage" [3CG] version of "MMMBop" for the second part of the first verse. Then I went back to the LFA version for the chorus. I did this for the entire song. It sounds REALLY cool! I betcha no one has thought of that before! Sunday [25th] was a lay-around-the-house day. Monday [26th, today] I stayed home from school. I had a killer stomach ache and I didn't sleep AT ALL. Tomorrow night I have a Chamber performance, Wednesday is "pack day" and we leave for Canada on Thursday. I can't wait! I LOVE traveling! In fact, I want a career where I can travel all over the place. Boy am I envious of Hanson! Gosh, it took me 5 and 1/2 pages to write about 4 days. I think by now you should know that I love to write! Well, my hand hurts now. MMMBye! Peace, love and bullet proof marshmallows... *Lucy* P.S. On MTV Live, Zac said, "Peace, love and bullet proof marshmallows." On the back of my Sabrina CD, it says, "Bulletproof Recording Company, Inc." LOL! When the Hanson's 6-CD contract is up, they should switch to this company. Zac would love it! P.P.S. Yum... I just ate some green jello. Yum, yum, yum, yum, oTAY, I'll stop now. :0) MMMBye! *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* 2004 Note: "First, I'm in Dance 2 at school [3rd period] and at 4th period, we gave the Fine Arts Academy a pre-preformance." My high school was divided into several academies... Fine Arts, Humanities, Science, B&T [business and technology], First Year [for the 9th graders], then there was also the gym and cafeteria. As a freshman, you were stuck in the First Year Academy, but you might end up having your electives in other academies. For sophomores-seniors, you had to pick an academy, based on your interests, and that's where a majority of your classes would be. I was in the fine arts academy, although I had classes throughout my time in high school in all 5 academies. "My band and I were going to festival." This is the second festival I've MENTIONED so far. There obviously are more than one festivals, just like there are more than one marching band competitions. "Guess who tried out [against people who had been playing the tuba for 2-5 years] and made it into Chamber?!?" I think when you're young and happy, the truth is not obvious to you. I'm sure it was a matter of - I was the only tuba player with the money to go to Canada. However, I DID make 1st chair in symphonic band [there are 3 bands... Wind Symphony, Symphonic, and First Year - best to worst], beating out people who had played longer than me, so I guess that's where I got my "I'm so great!" opinion from! "I can give it to Doug [I think that's his name!] and he'll get it to the Hansons." Doug [assuming that IS his name] worked for Hanson somehow. I don't remember how. But Sandy is/was friends with him, so... yeah. "I was bored so I made a "na na" tape." Ah, my lack-of-life shines again! "Gosh, it took me 5 and 1/2 pages to write about 4 days." Before my diary turned into a zine, every entry was hand written. So of course a page hand written ends up being a paragraph in size on the computer. Keep that in mind when reading these entries. Besides fixing the entry numbers, I'm also going to have to fix page numbers too!
